Bitcoin May Be Down, But Miners Remain True

Bitcoin, News, Tech
As Bitcoin faces downward market pressure, the price of the world’s most dominant virtual currency is likely to have crossed below the break-even point for crypto miners, according to most analysts. This, however, has not stopped their activity as the cryptocurrency mining industry is in it for the long haul. Bitcoin Miners Keep on Activity Even Below Break-Even Bitcoin mining stopped being a thing of amateur cryptocurrency enthusiasts in their basements to become an industry of its own. This has seen executives raising money from venture capitalists in order to fund multi-million dollar operations in regions of the world with cheaper power. Lower marginal costs with an industrial capacity have allowed professional miners to drive amateurs away from the scene, especially when the market is in a bearish momentum, like…

WildRig – A New AMD/Nvidia GPU Miner for the Wild Keccak Algorithm

WildRig – A New AMD/Nvidia GPU Miner for the Wild Keccak Algorithm

News, Tech
WildRig is a relatively new closed source miner for both AMD OpenCL and Nvidia CUDA GPU miners for the Wild Keccak algorithm used by crypto coins such as Boolberry (BBR) or PURK. It seems to be performing better on Nvidia hardware compared to ccMiner’s performance for Wild Keccak, though on AMD it may not be faster than other alternative miners available. Do note that since this is a closed source miner it also comes with a 2% developer fee built-in, so that fact can make all the difference depending on your hardware if it is worth using the miner or not. Since it is a specific miner for a specific algorithm it offers some extra features and improvements that may make it more problem-free or useful for mining Wild Keccak,…

New Faster z-enemy 1.16 Nvidia GPU Miner With Extra Performance

News, Tech
There is a new zealot/enemy-1.16 (z-enemy) miner update from Dk and Enemy that adds additional performance improvements to a number of the supported algorithms by the software. There are extra 7-10% performance improvement to the newly added HEX mining algorithm recently introduced by the XDNA project as well as 5-7% increase in hashrate for the X16R and X16S mining algorithms. The X17, X11, Sonoa, Renesis and Aergo crypto algorithms have also received a smaller, but still a few percent improvement in the latest release. As far as the improved performance in the algorithm used by Renessis (RESS), it still needs a bit of catching up to what the latest T-Rex 0.5.7 miner provides in terms of performance. Updated Bminer 10.1.0 With a Small Fix Regarding Bytom (BTM) Mining

Updated Bminer 10.1.0 With a Small Fix Regarding Bytom (BTM) Mining

Altcoins, Ethereum, News, Tech
A quick updated to the recently released Bminer 10.0.0 regarding Bytom (BTM) has been released. The new version addresses a problem with performance degradation over time when mining BTM, so that should not be an issue anymore. Currently Bminer is the fastest Bytom (BTM) miner out there, though sadly it offers only limited pool support, so you cannot use it on all of the available big pools and that limits its usability… something that also needs addressing in our opinion. So if you are mining BTM with Bminer, then it will be a wise idea to update and get the performance fix. We remind you that Bminer is a closed source Nvidia GPU miner available for Linux and Windows in the form of pre-compiled binaries and that there is a…

Trouble on the Horizon? What Last Weekend’s Ruckus Means for Bitmain’s IPO

News
Over the weekend, information surfaced that could suggest that mining giant Bitmain may be facing an uphill battle as it looks to launch an IPO on the Hong Kong stock exchange.Newly leaked public information reveals that, in its pre-IPO presentation to investors, Bitmain provided insight into its cryptocurrency holdings, which shows that Bitmain unloaded most of its bitcoin (BTC) to accumulate bitcoin cash (BCH) in its stead. In a snapshot of a slide from the original presentation, the leftmost column titled “Digital quantity of money” shows Bitmain’s bitcoin supply decreased from 71,560 BTC to 22,082 from December 2016 to Q1 2018. Over the same period, its BCH holding increased to over 1 million coins. Samson Mow, CSO of Blockstream, pointed out that Bitmain has incurred half a billion dollars in…
