Texas Brings the Heat as an Alternative to Mining in Cold Climates

Texas Brings the Heat as an Alternative to Mining in Cold Climates

News, Tech
Cryptocurrency mining is both power and heat intensive. In the case of the latter, miners have been known to flock to countries like Iceland, as well as cities like New York. Texas based blockchain-based platform, TMGcore, is showing that this doesn’t have to be the case. According to Dallas News, the company uses custom-built mining rigs and a tested patented cooling method to ensure that their mining operations are not location-dependent. In fact, the company will soon be moving to a 150,000-square-foot data center in the city of Plano, Texas to set up shop. Keeping it Cool TMGcore will be using a two-phase liquid immersion cooling process to combat the high level of heat produced by mining. As the term suggests, the equipment will be immersed in a cooling liquid that will…

‘I Dissent’ – SEC Commissioner Slams Winklevoss’ Bitcoin ETF Rejection

Bitcoin, News
SEC commissioner Hester M. Pierce voiced her formal disagreement shortly after the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) denied the application of Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss for a Bitcoin ETF.  SEC Commissioner Hester M. Pierce said in a public statement that the commission was wrong to disapprove the proposed rule change to list and trade shares of the Winklevoss Bitcoin Trust on the Bats BZX Exchange. She also holds that the proposition manages to abide by the statutory standards and that the Commission should, in fact, permit the cryptocurrency exchange to list and trade the Bitcoin-based exchange-traded product. Apparently, bitcoin is not ripe enough, respectable enough, or regulated enough to be worthy of our markets. I dissent: https://t.co/gH5zXaKtmj — Hester Peirce (@HesterPeirce) July 26, 2018 The SEC Failed to Apply…

News
Bitcoin has now held above the critical level of $8,000 for more than 40 hours, a clear testament that this recent rally could actually be sustainable and by now all eyes are on $10,000. What’s most notable is that the break above $8,000 happened on extreme volume. Tuesday’s trading action was high across the board. Online exchanges, Wall Street’s futures contracts, and even on the blockchain itself trading action achieved levels not seen in months. In traditional markets, when a breakout happens on strong volume it’s considered a more powerful move, which leads me to believe that we might actually be witnessing a trend reversal. Of course, trading is always risky and cryptoassets are the riskiest market that I’ve ever known. So it always pays to keep a diversified portfolio. @MatiGreenspan eToro, Senior Market Analyst Today’s Highlights…

How Escrow Platforms Can Create Real Demand and Reduce Token Supply

How Escrow Platforms Can Create Real Demand and Reduce Token Supply

News
Supply and demand are two fundamental components of any economy, and their relationship will determine its boom or bust. Token economies are no exception. Leveraging Supply and Demand Whenever the demand for a token increases and the number of tokens in circulation decreases, the result is that the token has a higher purchasing power in the blockchain market. This is why it is so important for token economies to be based in the correct models. For example, a particularly successful token economy can be achieved using escrows. A blockchain platform can provide this service through smart contracts that act as a decentralized escrow for specific transactions. The platform then charges a much lower commission than a regular, centralized version would. Thus, it attracts buyers and sellers who find it more…

Bitfi is a New Hardware Crypto Wallet

Bitfi is a New Hardware Crypto Wallet

Ethereum, News
Bitfi is a newcomer in the world of crypto hardware wallets backed by the controversial John McAfee making some bold claims. Bitfi is advertised as the world’s first and only unhackable storage for digital assets and there is a bounty program available to back that claim with $100000 USD reward. It is nice marketing and the website of the Bitfi wallet seems like more marketing oriented than usability and information centered to possible customers that are into crypto, maybe the target is on users that are new to crypto and don’t really know what they should expect to get from a hardware wallet other than security. According to the information available Bitfi currently supports Bitcoin (BTC), Monero (XMR), Litecoin (LTX), Ethereum (ETH), NEO and Ethereum ERC-20 tokens such as Docademic…
